Meet Jennifer Odell
BAppScience, Master of Osteopathy
Osteopath
Jennifer completed her Osteopathic studies at UWS in 2004.
Jennifer enjoys the challenges, diversity and rewards of private clinical practice, and has developed a uniquely holistic, patient-centred approach - working with her patients to treat the whole person and not just their presenting complaint. She enjoys working with individuals that have been unsuccessful with other treatment modalities.
She strongly believes in the Osteopathic philosophy of treating the cause of the pain rather than just the symptoms to achieve a more satisfactory result and enjoys the challenges that this brings. She employs a wide variety of techniques both structural and indirect. Jennifer strongly encourages her patients to take an active approach in their management, through exercise rehabilitation and lifestyle modification, in order to achieve their desired outcomes.
Jennifer is highly committed to perfecting her skills by continuing both Australian and International postgraduate training.
She has completed extra studies in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field, Integrating Primitive Reflexes and is currently studying Hemispheric Brain Imbalances. Jennifer also regularly attends the MINDD Integrative Medicine conferences.
When not in the clinic Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, bushwalking, art projects or just curling up in front of the fire reading.
Why Osteo?
Osteopathy is one of ten regulated healthcare professions in Australia. Osteopaths complete 5 years of full-time University training in the assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of many different injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
Osteopathic philosophy gives a holistic approach to health and stresses the importance of the musculoskeletal system in a person’s health and well-being. The aim of treatment is to support the body’s self-healing capacity. Osteopathy is a form of Hands-On manual therapy, designed to help alleviate painful conditions and increase mobility.

Central to the study of Osteopathy is ‘biomechanics’ – how each part of the musculoskeletal system interacts with and influences every other part. Any joint or muscle injury must be treated as part of the whole body, since other parts of the musculoskeletal system will also be affected. For example, an ankle injury may mean that the patient limps and favours the other foot. Over time, this imbalance can lead to other injuries, such as soreness in the other ankle, knee or hip, or perhaps back pain.
Jennifer can devise a strategy of treatment that takes your whole musculoskeletal system into account. Osteopathic treatment assists the body by providing increased mobility and correcting functional dysfunctions, allowing the body the opportunity to heal itself and aiming to prevent the problem from recurring. Attention is also given to other systems of the body – such as the circulatory, nervous and lymphatic systems – since these all play significant roles in the healing process.
